Primary Education:

W.F. West High School

I spent my high school years in Chehalis, Washington at W. F. West high school. It was there that I chose to learn about nursing and started a more comprehensive education about history as it is taught in schools and learned by students. I also participated in various sports, my favorite of which was cheerleading. I was able to overcome the set stereotypes dictated about a sport like cheerleading and also come to value the hard work and teamwork plus the tremendous mounts of effort it takes to be on a competitive team. I am proud to say that we won 3rd in state for three years in medium and large group categories.

Secondary Education:

Centralia College

I am lucky to say that I was able to participate in a program called Running Start. This program allowed me to take my junior and senior year of high school at our local college, Centralia College. I was then able to gain my associates degree at the same time that I graduated from high school. I focused my studies on women’s health and classes focused on the prerequisites required for entrance into a nursing school. I was fortunate to take multiple health classes specific to women and the health disparities that appear around them. This fueled my desire to participate in healthcare with focuses on those who may experience unwelcoming or discomfort within the traditional settings.

Secondary Education:

University of Washington

I started my education at the University of Washington at 18. It has since then been a long journey and a lot of eye opening experiences as I have read various literatures that allowed me to experience life through different lenses. I can now successfully say that I better understand intersectional approaches to political, scientific, and historic literatures. I am also able to see the privileges that I possess and acknowledges previous biases that I have experienced and expressed. I now know how to further continue my education surrounding current events and historic ones as well.
